YRC Logistics names Friedlander managing director for Asia operations

YRC Logistics, a subsidiary of YRC Worldwide Inc., announced that Eric Friedlander has been named managing director for Asia, responsible for all aspects of business operations, development, government relations and financial performance in China and all other countries in the region.

Friedlander will report to Jim Ritchie, president and chief executive officer of YRC Logistics, based in Overland Park, Kan. “This is an important part of the future for YRC Logistics,” Ritchie says. “Eric’s experience in the region, language skills and financial acumen make him well suited to excel in this role.”

Most recently, Friedlander served as senior vice president for Asia development at YRC Logistics and chief operating officer of YRC Logistics Asia. In that role, he was responsible for focusing on China development and for the management of all operations in Asia outside of China; this included driving and supporting joint venture development, as well as overall strategic planning and execution. Prior to this role, Friedlander served as senior vice president and chief financial officer for YRC Logistics.

Prior to joining YRC Logistics, he served as vice president of finance for Transportation.com. He was named vice president of finance at Yellow Corp., the predecessor company to YRC Worldwide Inc., with responsibility for Yellow Global and new Yellow Transportation services. He has 15 years of prior experience with Inter-Maritime Forwarding Co., an international freight forwarder and customs-house broker, including five years in operations management and 10 years working as controller, corporate secretary and treasurer.
