Five more fleets select SkyBitz

SkyBitz, a satellite-based asset-tracking and information management service provider, announced the addition of five customers that are deploying its tracking solutions. More than 500 fleets now rely on SkyBitz’s GLS technology to track in excess of 150,000 trailers, the company says.

“Trailer tracking enables trucking companies to ‘do more with less’ by increasing their asset utilization, lowering trailer-to-tractor ratio and providing more accurate detention billing and invoicing capabilities,” says Roni Taylor, executive vice president of SkyBitz. “This is especially crucial in the current trucking market, which is underscored by weak demand and highly competitive pricing.”

The following companies recently selected SkyBitz:

  • Bulk Transportation, which specializes in transporting bulk and liquid commodities, is installing the SkyBitz GLS 210 tracking technology in the nearly 300 trailers in the company’s fleet. Headquartered in Walnut, Calif., Bulk Transportation also offers intermodal service. (www.bulk-dti.com)
  • Corsicana Bedding Inc., which manufactures and distributes a wide variety of high-quality bedding products, is equipping its private fleet of more than 180 trailers with SkyBitz mobile units so that the manufacturer can track shipments en route to retailers. The company is based in Corsicana, Texas. (www.corsicanabedding.com)
  • Willoughby, Ohio-based Five Star Trucking Inc. is an irregular-route common carrier that operates throughout the 48 contiguous states. The installation of SkyBitz technology in nearly 100 trailers is part of the company’s commitment to knowing where loads are at all times. (www.fivestartrucking.com)
  • HMD Trucking Inc., an independent trucking company based in greater Chicago, is implementing the SkyBitz solution in its 200-trailer fleet, which fits with the carrier’s commitment to utilizing the most modern equipment, transportation technology and methods of control. (www.hmdtrucking.com)
