YRC Worldwide Inc. subsidiary Roadway, in cooperation with YRC Logistics Global, says it has launched an expedited ocean service from China to the United States, added new supply chain services at both origin and destination for international shippers, and expanded logistics offerings to more global markets.

At least six days faster than standard ocean transit, the new Roadway Expedited Ocean Service for less-than-container-load shipments features multiple weekly sailings from seven origin ports in China, the company says; priority unloading of containers at U.S. ports further speeds deliveries. Import shipments are expedited through the Roadway network, with guaranteed delivery to final destination.

“Our new Roadway Expedited Ocean Service meets a need in the marketplace for a reliable cost-effective alternative to air transit for less-than-container-load shipments from China,” says Roadway President Terry Gilbert, president of Akron, Ohio-based Roadway. “It is just one aspect of our ability to create the right combination of service and expertise wherever needed in the supply chain through our expanded global offerings.”

Services include global freight forwarding, inland transportation, global logistics, global trade management expertise, technology for shipment visibility and control, and supply chain management services. In addition, port deconsolidation services are available in the United States for complex requirements, including delivery direct to the retail floor. All services are provided in conjunction with YRC Logistics Global, an NVOCC-licensed affiliate.
