International has been named the official truck of Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby, officials announced at the historic Louisville, Ky., racetrack. Churchill Downs Inc. and Navistar Inc. have agreed to a two-year deal.

“We’re proud to make International the official truck of the Kentucky Derby,” says David Johanneson, Navistar group vice president of global sales, marketing and distribution. “The rich tradition of this great sporting event plus the proud heritage of the International brand make this a strong combination.”

International vehicles, including the all-new International LoneStar Class 8 tractor, will be on display at Churchill Downs throughout the week leading up to the 134th running of the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands on Saturday, May 3. They also will be highly visible throughout the spring and fall race meets; the water trucks that assist in maintenance of the racetrack between live races are International trucks.

“We appreciate Navistar’s continued support for Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby,” says Jim Gates, general manager of Churchill Downs. “Their products have been a great addition to our operation and are designed with the needs of the horse racing and breeding industry in mind.”
