Illinois and Missouri recently reached an agreement to construct a new four-lane cable-stayed bridge across the Mississippi River from East St. Louis to St. Louis that should improve traffic safety and reduce congestion across the region.

Construction of the bridge, which will not require a toll, could begin as soon as 2010 and is expected to require four to six years to complete. For more information, go to www.newriverbridge.com.
