The American Transportation Research Institute will host an online forum May 16 at 2 p.m. ET to provide motor carriers the opportunity to provide input to the proposed Survey of Truck Driver Injury and Health being conducted by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.

The NIOSH survey is being designed to address several important questions, including the prevalence of health conditions and sleep disorders in the truck driver population, the role of working conditions in driver health, and the relationship between work activities and driver injuries.

The 90-minute webinar offers the opportunity for the trucking industry to provide input to the survey questions so that the focus is on the most important driver health issues. Input also is needed to identify appropriate locations for conducting the survey to ensure broad industry representation.

“It is critical that motor carriers participate in the design of this survey so that the questions are useful to the industry in addressing driver health,” says Scott Mugno, managing director of corporate safety for FedEx Express.

Motor carriers can simultaneously listen and watch the live ATRI-sponsored webinar from any location in the United States that has Internet and telephone access. To register for the webinar, send an e-mail to [email protected] and include the words “H/W Webinar” in the subject line. Please include your company name and location in your e-mail.

Registration is limited to motor carriers and will be on a first-come first-served basis. Confirmation notices will be e-mailed within 48 hours of registration and will contain the Web address, phone number and other relevant information for participation.
