Maptuit Corporation, a provider of commercial navigation, location based service, real-time traffic information and vehicle tracking solutions, announced that it’s Maptuit NaviGo service has been nominated for the 2008 “Best Telematics Service & Application for Commercial Vehicles Award.” The winner will be announced on May 20th during the 8th Annual Telematics Update Conference in Detroit Michigan.

Maptuit NaviGo service is a two-way connected, real-time, hybrid navigation solution that is able to use satellite, cellular or wi-fi communication modes. Maptuit says that NaviGo’s algorithmic advantage allows the mobile communication unit to host on-board maps, while all commercial routing is calculated on Maptuit’s server farm. This hybrid solution delivers NaviGo users accurate and up-to-date, truck specific directions and real-time navigation.

NaviGo integrates into the dispatch system in order to improve operational efficiencies. Once integrated, dispatchers can send planned pick up or delivery routes directly to the mobile communication units, prompting the driver to simply choose his or her next planned stop. All NaviGo data changes & software updates take place over-the-air.

“This nomination is an acknowledgement of our vision and the future of commercial telematics,” stated Rick Turek, Chief Technology Officer for Maptuit. “We have a great team of Win-CE and Win-XP partners like PeopleNet, DriverTech, Geologic Cadec and Qualcomm, all of which represent a paradigm shift and whom without, this nomination would not be possible – Partners like these, allow for innovative real-time products like NaviGo to be an effective solution to technology driven and quality proven companies.”
