Micronet to utilize Tele Atlas Logistics for in-cab navigation

Tele Atlas, a global provider of digital maps and dynamic content for navigation and location-based solutions, and Micronet, a developer, manufacturer and marketer of mobile data terminals and systems for fleet and mobile work force management, announced that Micronet will utilize Tele Atlas Logistics in its fully autonomous mobile-based routing and navigation system, providing a commercial navigation solution specifically designed for the trucking and transportation industries.

Micronet’s enhanced WinCE based Net960-CE series of MDTs are available in multiple configurations and are all designed to support a wide range of applications and services geared to optimize fleet and MRM operations. The Net960-CE will feature Tele Atlas Logistics, a digital map database that combines commercial fleet routing attributes and restrictions with coast-to-coast coverage of interstate highways, access roads, state highways and local roads for seamless, connected routing. Based on vehicle configuration, load and the routing method selected, the system will generate the most efficient route and provide turn-by-turn instructions. The geocoding functionality, rich map display and truck-specific attributes help enable turn-by-turn navigation for commercial carriers.

An advanced unified SDK provided by Micronet is designed to allow a quick integration of the routing and navigation functionality with applications such as dispatching, Department of Transportation logs and fuel tax reporting, both on the mobile and server ends. With more than 25 years of experience, Micronet presently has deployed 190,000 mobile data units globally to a wide range of enterprises and industries.

“Fleet and mobile resource management systems leveraging GPS and digital mapping solutions with truck-specific restrictions can generate compelling, quantifiable return-on-investment for carriers and provide their drivers with routes that can improve safety, enhance efficiency and help ensure legal compliance,” says Jonathon Husby, vice president of automotive, telematics and transportation for Tele Atlas. “Globally, fleet owners increasingly are recognizing the need for a comprehensive management solution that includes navigation, and we are pleased to expand our relationship with Micronet to serve this growing market.”
