Two Canadian provinces bar driving while using cell phones

Nova Scotia and Quebec recently banned driving while using a handheld cell phone. Text messaging while driving also is banned in Nova Scotia, as is smoking in a vehicle that’s carrying anyone under the age of 19.

Up until the new laws went into effect April 1, Newfoundland had been the only Canadian province to bar cell phone use while driving.
