ALK Technologies hires new vp of sales

ALK Technologies, a developer of GPS navigation, routing, mileage and mapping software for businesses and consumers, announced that Roy Schijns has been named Vice President of Sales, PC*Miler. Schijns (pronounced Shines), has extensive sales and business development leadership experience in technology and telecommunications.

“I am very pleased to make this announcement. Roy brings proven creativity and business insight to ALK at a time of tremendous opportunity,” said Dr. Alain Kornhauser, founder and chairman of ALK Technologies. “Our customers are facing unprecedented challenges, and ALK has the know-how to help meet those challenges. Roy is the right person to lead our sales efforts at this decisive time.”

Schijns began his career with AT&T Communications as a global marketing manager, moving into international sales in New York and then London. Schijns went on to Cisco Systems where he contributed to the remarkable growth of the world’s leading provider of networking solutions. He has since helped other technology organizations in telecommunications and enterprise mobility develop sales channels and strategic partnerships, both as a company executive and as a consultant.

Schijns earned a bachelor’s degree from Nyenrode Business University in the Netherlands and holds an MBA in International Business from the University of South Carolina, Moore School of Business.

“This is an exciting opportunity at a pivotal time in the global transportation and logistics industry,” said Schijns. “The underlying fundamentals and market drivers are changing dramatically due in part to rising fuel costs and a declining trend in truck freight tonnage. As a result, more than ever before, our clients look to grow profits by leveraging cutting-edge technology solutions coupled with real-time information. I look forward to helping deliver ALK’s market-leading enterprise solutions to transportation and logistics customers and represent their evolving requirements within ALK.”
