Karmak has released an updated version of ProfitMaster Internet Parts Sales, a Web-based software that lets heavy-duty dealers and distributors receive parts orders over the Internet.

Fully integrated with Karmak business systems, the new release is designed to allow parts suppliers to control which of their customers may purchase via the Internet, and set pricing and other options for each customer; the business system processes and fulfills the orders, e-mailing an acknowledgement back to the customer. Sales personnel save time and increase accuracy over manually entered orders, and the ability to track customer activity allows dealers and distributors to analyze and respond to customer buying trends, says the company.

On the retail website, customers search for parts, check price and availability, create and maintain multiple shopping carts, and checkout. They also can view account history, service history, order status, part substitutions and right-to-return cores, as well as choose shipping options, enter comments and create a list of favorite parts. For quick order entry, buyers can import parts lists or enter multiple part numbers at one time.

To ensure security, customer permissions are controlled by system settings and pre-established accounts, Karmak says; as an additional safeguard, a 30-minute timeout feature causes inactive Web sessions to be terminated.
