J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. announced Wednesday, May 28, that the company has been recognized by the Arkansas Trucking Association as the 2007 Corporate Fleet Safety Grand Champion.
“Driving more than 33 million miles in a safe and efficient way, without any major accidents, is a major testament to J.B. Hunt Transport’s drivers and management and their commitment to highway safety,” says Lane Kidd, president of the state association.
Each year, the Arkansas Trucking Association reviews safety records for a large number of for-hire and private carriers to determine which provider has the best overall highway safety performance for miles driven within the state of Arkansas; the organization selects only one carrier to receive the Grand Champion award. In 2007, J.B. Hunt drove 33 million miles in Arkansas and only had nine reportable accidents, all of which were minor in nature with no serious injuries.
“I firmly believe we have the best team of transportation professionals, especially those behind the wheel, available in the industry,” says Kirk Thompson, president and chief executive officer for Lowell, Ark.-based J.B. Hunt. “Safely sharing the roads with the public is a core value of our company. We are honored to be recognized for our safety achievements.”
