BorgWarner Turbo and Emissions Systems has updated its Turbocharger Troubleshooting Matrix for turbo diesel engines. The tool, which displays problem descriptions and the possible causes when turbo failure symptoms occur, now also features a simple graphic showing where to look if a turbo is believed to be damaged.
Because a defective turbocharger is often the consequence of another primary engine defect, the problem cannot be cured by simply replacing the turbocharger alone. BorgWarner — based in Asheville, N.C. — says the Turbocharger Troubleshooting Matrix can help identify the root cause of the problem, allowing the proper repairs to be made and the vehicle returned to service quickly.
