Audit initiated of FMCSA’s contract practices

The Department of Transportation’s Office of Inspector General is initiating an audit of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s contracting practices. The objective of the audit is to determine whether FMCSA’s contract award and administration practices comply with applicable laws and regulations and follow agency-specific guidance.

FMCSA’s Acquisition Management Division is responsible for all contracting and related activities to fulfill the agency’s mission. FMCSA’s fiscal year 2008 budget included about $139 million for the procurement of goods and services.
