Perkins Logistics — a provider of specialized transportation services for the office furniture, store fixture, home cabinet and tradeshow exhibit industries — has purchased the assets and ongoing customer relations of Vogel Specialized Hauling. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Vogel Specialized Hauling provides time-sensitive transportation for products requiring flatbed, heavy haul and over-dimensional serving the retail construction, roads and bridges, mining and racing industries. Terms of the transaction were not announced.
Perkins says it plans to grow the product offering within Vogel’s current customer group and expand the offering to Perkins’ client base; and expand Perkins’ transportation management function. Vogel says it will focus on the expansion of Perkins’ service capabilities, largely through providing even more client-centric solutions that utilize multiple modes of service and multiple carrier providers.
Bob Vogel, who founded his company in 1998, brings with him to Perkins more than a decade of entrepreneurial experience. Over that 10-year span, he grew Vogel Specialized from a startup in 1998 to one servicing customers from across the United States handling thousands of transactions in a just-in-time environment.
“Bob and his team are an addition to our team that we’re all very excited about,” says Andy Card, owner and chief executive officer of Noblesville, Ind.-based Perkins. “His experience and qualifications are outstanding, and we’re eager to see him lead Perkins’ flatbed segment and transportation management business to its full potential.”
Perkins is a privately held 100-year-old transportation services business providing air ride, padded van and flatbed transportation and distribution services throughout North America to industries requiring time- and/or product-sensitive handling. With more than 350 drivers and associates, the company says it has experienced a compounded annual growth rate in excess of 20 percent over the last seven years.
“Perkins is a great company, and a great place to be,” Vogel says. “With so much opportunity for growth and development, and with leadership that embraces change, I’m very pleased to be a part of this organization.”
