Kore Telematics, a worldwide provider of digital wireless services specializing in machine-to-machine (M2M) communications, announced that Navman Wireless North America is using the Kore network for vehicle tracking and fleet management throughout the continent.

Navman Wireless North America is a global provider of fleet tracking and management solutions based on GPS technology for small- to medium-sized vehicle fleets. Kore says that with its network, Navman can offer its customers a choice of GSM or preferred CDMA technologies – whichever best suits each customer’s specific requirements – over a single integrated service platform while maintaining direct connectivity to Tier 1 wireless carriers.

In addition, Navman Wireless is committed to providing a highly scalable solution for commercial fleets of any size, ranging from just a few vehicles traveling short distances to hundreds of vehicles traversing the nation on a daily basis. To do this, Navman requires a network that delivers the same network airtime cost economies to smaller fleets that are available to larger fleets. Kore says its network has no minimum use levels and, unlike operator plans, requires no payment for unused services.

“With the rising price of fuel, vehicle tracking and management have become extremely critical to cost management for a wide range of organizations,” says Alex Brisbourne, president and chief operating officer of Kore Telematics. “Through this partnership, Navman’s customers get the double benefit of higher levels of control over their fleet operations and a reduction in the overhead required for fleet tracking.” Kore says it is the only M2M network provider that offers both CDMA and GSM wireless services, along with real-time control, through an integrated management console.

“The Kore network is the perfect complement to our powerful AVL (automated vehicle location) solution,” says Renaat Ver Eecke, vice president of Glenview, Ill.-based Navman Wireless North America. “Kore’s extensive digital infrastructure, including integrated GSM and CDMA network and data services, allows us to ensure that our customers are able to maintain the highest-quality communications with their assets, anytime, anywhere. Kore’s responsiveness to market changes, willingness to develop programs that fit the ever-changing AVL landscape and overall service levels will play a valuable role as we continue to expand our range of industry-leading fleet management offerings.”
