Anderson Trucking Service driver David Grim received first place in the Minnesota Truck Driving Championships, held June 6-8 at the Yellow Freight facility in Burnsville, Minn., and hosted by the Minnesota Trucking Association. Grim came to ATS as a company driver in April 2005 and then became an owner-operator, purchasing a new truck last year.

Grim, of Smicksburg, Pa., competed in the 5-axle sleeper berth class, one of eight classes in the contest. In the first round, Grim achieved the second-highest cumulative score in his class following the written test, personal interview, driving skills course and a pre-trip inspection. The top three drivers in each class then drove to determine first, second and third place. In all, 111 contestants participated, representing a number of Minnesota trucking companies.

“I am extremely proud to have David Grim and the entire ATS Roadeo Team represent ATS in this annual competition,” says Rollie Anderson, president and chief executive officer of the St. Cloud, Minn-based company. “They are a fine group of drivers who exemplify the best in their industry.” Other ATA Roadeo Team members were Alex Aguerro, Mike McKee and Chris McGee.
