YRC Worldwide Inc. announced that it has been named a recipient of the 2008 CIO 100 award by CIO magazine. The 21st annual award program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology.

“Our award this year is another great example of business and IT collaboration at YRC Worldwide,” says Michael Rapken, executive vice president and chief information officer of Overland Park, Kan.-based YRC Worldwide. “We are fortunate to have some of the brightest people in the industry. Our predictive billing program highlights the kind of great things we are doing to improve service to our customers and streamline our operations.”

“Receiving recognition for the ingenuity, creativity and commitment of our technology team is very rewarding,” says Bill Zollars, president and chief executive officer of YRC Worldwide. “Our entire team is dedicated to accelerating our business leadership through technology leadership. We congratulate our team for their great accomplishment.”

“The CIO 100 honors organizations that have used technology in innovative ways to generate value to the business,” says Abbie Lundberg, editor-in-chief of CIO magazine. “Unlike other top lists, it’s not just about who’s biggest — it’s about who’s doing the most interesting and relevant things.”

The 2008 CIO 100 awards will be presented at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Aug. 26 at the conclusion of the 10th annual CIO 100 Symposium and Awards Ceremony.
