The CEI Group announced that it now accepts electronic signatures from drivers to authorize the Web-based retrieval of their motor vehicle records. “This is more than a convenience for drivers,” says Vincent Brigidi, director of commercial operations for Trevose, Pa.-based CEI. “This is going to make the entire process of MVR reporting more efficient for everybody – the drivers, our clients and CEI.”

In order to comply with national consumer privacy laws and regulations, drivers must sign documents created by their state or, in Canada, their provincial government to give permission for their employers to retrieve their motor vehicle report.

Brigidi says that the new procedure further enhances CEI’s online MVR authorization system, eliminating the need for drivers to download copies of the documents and print, sign and fax them to CEI; instead, drivers now can enter their names and check a box as a replacement for a handwritten signature. The new procedure also is part of CEI’s “green fleet” initiatives, as it will save on the use of paper, electricity and toner cartridges, Brigidi says.
