Working with a team of software engineers, Ben Evans says he has developed an affordable Web-based software to save time and help him run his trucking business with greater efficiency, including fuel usage. The software, tailored specifically to the needs of small and mid-size operations, includes a logbook module that calculates transport costs per mile. Future releases will be able to track fuel prices on the road and help select faster, more efficient routes, Evans says; managers will be able to synchronize this information with payroll data to determine a load’s total transport cost per mile. All this business intelligence reporting can be accessed anywhere, at any time, with any Internet connection, he says.
