Old Dominion Freight Line announced Monday, Aug. 4, the launch of a new Web-based equipment locator on its website, www.odfl.com. The less-than-truckload company says the “Find Available Equipment” application will help customers locate containers available for street turns and/or units available to haul volume shipments near their location at a faster and more affordable rate.

The street-turnable ocean containers or volume shipment opportunities that are available will be navigated easily in real time to meet customer service needs at the best possible pricing, according to ODFL; this new application also allows patrons to enter desired fields such as origin state, destination state, size of trailer, type of trailer and steamship line. After preferred fields are complete, the “Display Equipment” tab will list the available equipment generally en route between the origin and destination points.

“This type of special customer need requires equipment to be found at a faster rate,” says Wayne Capwell, director of e-commerce for Thomasville, N.C.-based Old Dominion. “With the new equipment tracker, we can allow excellent service at an unbeatable price for volume and container moves.”
