Al Cohn, director of new market development and engineering support for Pressure Systems International, will chair the session “Fuel, Fuel, Fuel and Your Tires” at the SAE International Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress and Exhibition being held Oct. 7-9 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. The session will be held in Room 10 at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7.
Panel discussion will focus on how tire development and tire best practices can reduce fuel consumption of commercial vehicles. Topics to be covered include tire design and compounds, wide-based vs. standard dual tires, retreads vs. new, and the importance of proper tire inflation.
In addition to Cohn — who continues as chairman for 2008 of the Maintenance Committee for SAE — panelists participating include Douglas L. Jones, customer engineering support manager for Michelin North America; and from Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions, Randy Patterson, senior field engineer, and Guy Walenga, director of engineering for commercial products and technologies.
