Qualcomm Incorporated, a developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies and data solutions, announced the appointment of Robert Walton as senior vice president and division president of Qualcomm Enterprise Services (QES). In his new role, Walton will lead the division’s business operations and provide strategic guidance in exploring new market opportunities for the group, which offers wireless solutions for a variety of enterprises, from vehicle and equipment telematics to mobile device management and machine-to-machine communications. Walton succeeds Joan Waltman, who has taken on executive responsibilities in commercializing research and development.

“Bob is an accomplished technology executive whose leadership will help guide our continued success and growth in the increasingly important areas of next-generation wireless enterprise services, mobile device management and machine-to-machine communications,” said Len Lauer, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Qualcomm. “I thank Joan for her contributions to QES.”

Walton brings more than 25 years experience in technology and services businesses to the position. He joined Qualcomm Enterprise Services in May 2007 as the division’s vice president of product management and marketing. Previously, Walton held leadership and advisory roles with Compaq Computer, Pixar Animation Studios, NeXT Computer and Northern Telecom Electronics (now Nortel Networks), among others.

Walton earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and a master’s degree from the University of Miami. He also is a graduate of Stanford’s Graduate School of Business Executive Program.
