Michelin says market demand for its X One wide single truck tires is prompting unprecedented growth in the service network that offers its products. Now, 180 member travel plazas, truckstops and shop facilities affiliated with Professional Transportation Partners officially were included in the Michelin network effective Sept. 1 following the signing of a marketing agreement between Michelin and PTP, company officials announced Tuesday, Sept. 9.

“We have been doing great business for years with many individual PTP locations,” says Guy Pekle, vice president of sales for Greenville, S.C.-based Michelin Americas Truck Tires. “This agreement allows us to translate the success that we have built with individual truckstops to the entire PTP network across the continent. PTP has developed a standard for service to the trucking community that we admire, and we are confident that this joint marketing agreement is going to benefit their member truckstops as well as our joint fleet customers.”

“Michelin is bringing innovative technology to the marketplace in the form of tires that save fuel, save weight or just plain run longer than any other tires in the marketplace,” says Michael Gay, PTP director of shop programs. “We’ve received plenty of positive feedback from individual members about doing business with Michelin. We are pleased to expand the business opportunities to all of our members through this agreement.”

The agreement between Michelin and PTP should be complete at all 180 PTP shop locations by the end of 2008.
