Stocking named president, COO of Swift Transportation

Swift Corp. announced that Richard Stocking has been promoted to president and chief operating officer of its trucking subsidiary, Swift Transportation Co., a truckload carrier headquartered in Phoenix. Stocking joined Swift more than 17 years ago and served in various operations roles before moving into operations and sales management positions.

Over the last five years, Stocking has served as regional vice president of operations of the Central Region from October 2002 to March 2005, as executive vice president of the Central Region from March 2005 to June 2007, and most recently as executive vice president of sales since June 2007.

Initially, Stocking will have overall responsibility for sales, operations, customer service, dedicated, temperature controlled, Mexico operations and information technology, with additional functions transitioning to him in a timely manner. Jerry Moyes will continue in his role as chief executive officer of the trucking subsidiary, Swift Transportation Co. Moyes also will remain the chairman, CEO and president of Swift Corp.
