Xata Corp. announced the release of the next version of its on-demand fleet operations software. The company says the new features and enhanced tools in Xatanet 4.3 give fleet managers a clearer view of the day-to-day operations of their fleets to improve vehicle utilization and performance, and also deliver enhanced mapping capabilities and customer-defined reporting.

“The release of 4.3 demonstrates our commitment to listening to our customers and continually providing flexible functionality to help them optimize their fleets,” says Tom Flies, senior vice president of product management for Minneapolis-based Xata Corp. “The new components of the upgraded Xatanet help companies reduce costs and create efficiencies – key savings at any time, but particularly in today’s economy.”

In addition to the enhanced mapping and customer-defined reporting tools, Xatanet 4.3 also includes the following new features, according to the company:

  • Two new reports, a Driver Fuel Analysis Summary report and Fleet Utilization Summary report, that provide management easy access to important fleet data;
  • Additional Point of Delivery (POD) functionality that delivers both POD and Xatanet on a single handheld device;
  • New dashboard option that allows Xatanet users to view idle time during a route, excluding all other nontrip time. This new reporting option allows fleet managers to monitor the driver’s impact on vehicle idling;
  • Four new Smart Checks and Exceptions, which help gauge actual-vs.-planned leg time and stop time; and
  • Enhanced data-capture, which provides fleet managers increased visibility on fuel economy changes.
