C.J. Driscoll & Associates, a supplier of market research and consulting services for the GPS and wireless communication industries, has released its 2009 Mobile Resource Management Systems Market Study.
The study of the U.S. market for Mobile Resource Management (MRM) systems concludes that today about 3.6 million GPS/wireless devices are used to manage fleet vehicles, trailers, construction equipment and mobile workers. By 2012, this market will expand to more than 6.5 million units, and annual hardware and service revenues will grow to more than $2.5 billion, according to the study.
While overall MRM market expansion in 2009 has slowed somewhat as a result of the weak economy, segments such as the local fleet tracking market continue to grow due to widespread recognition of the effectiveness of MRM solutions in increasing fleet productivity and reducing operating costs, the study concludes.
