TransCore’s Fuel & Mileage Tax Reporting Service announced today, June 8, that it has added a free fuel optimization module that efficiently routes trucks to multiple interstate destinations, minimizing fuel use and cost.

TransCore says its free fuel optimization module lets users input information, including the city of origin and trip destination and the truck’s average miles per gallon and fuel tank capacity. The module provides detailed routing, an estimate of costs for fuel and taxes, and recommended locations for fuel purchases based on the fuel cards a trucker uses, according to the company; results also include a map and estimate of tax obligations by state.

“With our Web-based Fuel & Mileage Tax Reporting, companies don’t have to spend hours going through driver trip reports and then enter mileage and fuel data onto spreadsheets or state tax forms,” says Steve Baumhardt, vice president of business development at TransCore, based in Portland, Ore. “Instead, we enter and store trip data and calculate the tax liabilities in compliance with the International Fuel Tax Agreement and International Registration Plan. The Fuel Optimization Module basically provides companies with a free decision tool for greater efficiencies that save companies even more money.”
