Michelin Retread Technologies and Snider Tire announced the opening of a new retreading plant in Houston that will supply Snider’s four commercial locations in Texas: Beaumont, Conroe, Dallas/Grand Prairie and Houston. The addition of the Houston plant brings the total number of MRT plants in the United States to 80.

“We have seen an increase in demand from trucking fleets for emergency roadside service and MRT tire products,” says John Snider, founder and president of Snider Tire. “This new facility will ensure that we can meet the demand with additional production, as well as timely retread delivery to our commercial locations in Texas.”

The companies say the new tire pressing plant will be within 240 miles of the farthest of Snider’s Texas commercial locations, cutting their delivery time by more than 20 percent.

“Because of the new-tire technology and quality of the MRT product and process, trucking fleets are getting more out of their tire investment,” says Francois Corbin, chief operating officer of Michelin Americas Truck Tires. “With the Houston facility complementing an already very strong network of Michelin servicing dealers in Texas, we will continue to strive to offer the fleet customer a superior product and an unbeatable turnaround time.”
