McLeod Software, a provider of transportation management software solutions, and Southern Cal Transport, one of Alabama’s largest truckload carriers, are working together to launch MPowered by McLeod Software. The companies describe MPowered as a cooperative and synergistic marketing initiative designed to be economically beneficial to the software vendor and participating trucking companies during the current challenging economy.

Southern Cal, one of the first adopters of the MPowered by McLeod Software initiative, hosted a kickoff event Wednesday, Sept. 16, at its national headquarters in Birmingham, Ala., for the nationwide program that offers special incentives for carriers that purchase or upgrade to a new software system.

In return, McLeod Software provides MPowered by McLeod Software decals to place on the customer’s truck trailers, promoting the McLeod Software brand and, as their trucks travel throughout the country, the fact that the carrier has invested in McLeod Software’s dispatch and operations software.

“This is a very innovative program that benefits our company by saving us money, and we help promote the name of our software vendor partner, McLeod Software,” says Ken Adams, president of Southern Cal Transport. “We align ourselves with the best products, services, practices and vendors in the transportation industry, and we have long been a McLeod Software customer. The fact that McLeod came up with this type of opportunity for their customers attests that we are working with the right folks.”

The MPowered by McLeod Software decal program has caught on rapidly with trucking companies nationwide, according to McLeod Software, with about 7,000 decals already committed to 20 fleets of all sizes throughout the United States. The decals — which can be placed on dry vans, reefers and tankers — now are being beta-tested, and the program will be launched formally at the company’s Users Conference, set for Oct. 21-23 at the Sheraton Birmingham Convention Center.
