FMCSA allows more time for UCR fee comments

Interested parties have 10 additional days to comment on a proposal to more than double the fees assessed motor carriers and brokers under the Unified Carrier Registration Plan. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration on Sept. 3 issued a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) to increase fees sharply due to lower-than-expected revenues from the current fees.

FMCSA’s NPRM provided only 15 days for comment. In a notice to be published on Friday, Sept. 18, the agency noted that the five industry representatives on the Unified Carrier Registration Agreement board had asked for an extension, as did several other organizations.
