Service Tire Truck Centers has added 16 commercial locations and a Michelin Retread Technologies retread shop to its commercial truck tire and retreading service business, bringing the number of STTC’s commercial tire locations to 43. This was made possible by a purchase from Tire Centers Inc., terms of which were not disclosed.

Service Tire’s expanded footprint adds coverage in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and more locations in Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Virginia, along with the existing locations in Pennsylvania and Delaware. “It’s an exciting day for Service Tire,” says Ron Bennett, president and chief executive officer of the Bethlehem, Pa.-based company. “The addition of these new locations gives us the opportunity to bring industry-leading service and superior MRT products to even more fleet customers.”

With the addition of 16 commercial locations, Service Tire also will assume operation of the MRT retreading plant in Millbury, Mass. This plant produces both premold and custom-mold retreads and will support the retreading needs of customers from New England to New Jersey.

“In this extremely competitive trucking environment, the needs of fleets are becoming more and more demanding,” says Walt Dealtrey, chief operating officer of STTC. “With the Millbury retreading shop, we’ll be able to support these needs with the turnaround time and quality retreads that exceed expectations. STTC is ready to roll up our sleeves and get busy with new challenges and territories.”

“Service Tire Truck Centers has been a valued MRT customer since 2006,” says Francois Corbin, COO of Michelin Americas Truck Tries. “Michelin values its relationship with Service Tire and respects their reputation for providing industry-leading fleet service. We feel this move brings greater continuity to a growing MRT network.”

The expanding footprint will give Service Tire commercial service locations in nine states in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. “With additional and new locations concentrated in the area that Service Tire operates, we will offer expanded service to the fleets through our value propositions delivered by Service Tire,” says Scott Bennett, vice president of sales for Service Tire and a member of the MRT Dealer Council.
