Starting this May, Volvo Trucks North America takes its message of maximized efficiency and productivity on the road directly to customers with the 2010 Driving Success Tour. Fleet managers and owner-operators across the United States and Canada will experience a Volvo VN780 outfitted with the most advanced production technology, including an U.S. Environmental Protection Agency 2010-certified Volvo D13 engine with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology and the company’s I-Shift automated manual transmission (AMT).

The Volvo VN, staffed with product experts, will visit Volvo Truck dealerships across North America to educate customers on how to maximize fuel economy, drive productivity and reduce costs. Volvo says the latest generation of I-Shift technology improves driveability and fuel economy even more through Eco-Torque, which uses dual torque curves to provide higher torque in the top two gears when needed. The tractor also is outfitted with a host of fuel-saving technologies, including wide-base tires, a battery-powered bunk air conditioning system and full aerodynamic fairings, including Volvo’s adjustable trim tabs.

The Driving Success Tour’s VN780 also is equipped with safety systems such as the Volvo Enhanced Cruise (VEC) system, an advanced collision avoidance technology that works with a truck’s cruise control to maintain a safe following distance between vehicles. VEC also has the capability to automatically slow the truck with the engine and foundation brakes to maintain a set following distance, while at the same time alerting the driver to potential danger.

“Volvo has the most exciting news in the trucking industry, the most tested and proven emissions technology for 2010, and a clear plan for delivering these benefits to our customers,” says Scott Kress, Volvo Trucks senior vice president of sales and marketing. “The 2010 Driving Success Tour is designed to take this message directly to as many people as possible, in person. We know customers find this type of activity to be very useful, since it frees them up from the need to travel, and delivers a large amount of useful information.”

The 2010 Driving Success Tour will kick off in the western United States in May and travel to other regions of the United States and Canada through summer and fall. More information will be available at www.volvotour2010.com or by calling 800-444-RSVP.
