ArvinMeritor appoints Ott senior VP/HR

ArvinMeritor Inc. announced the appointment of Larry Ott as senior vice president of human resources, effective Aug. 1. The board of directors also elected Ott as an officer of the company.

Ott will be responsible for leadership and management of the human resources function for the company’s 13,200 employees at more than 95 locations in 25 countries. Additionally, he will provide strategic focus in employee leadership and development initiatives, compensation, benefits and rewards systems, labor relations and human resources systems, policies and practices.

“Larry’s extensive background in organizational development, manufacturing and labor relations will be extremely valuable in supporting the company’s efforts to be a recognized leader in our industry,” says Chip McClure, chairman, chief executive officer and president. “He will serve our team well, and we’re pleased to have him join our company.”

Ott most recently served as senior vice president of global human resources for Ally Financial Inc. (formerly known as GMAC Inc.), where he was responsible for the auto finance, insurance and commercial finance businesses from a human resources and organizational development perspective beginning in January 2006. Prior to joining Ally, Ott had more than 22 years of business experience working at General Motors, where he held various management positions with increasing levels of responsibility in the human resources and labor relations functions, the vast majority which were directly in support of GM’s global manufacturing operations. Assignments ranged from manufacturing and labor relations supervision at assembly plants in Moraine, Ohio and Fort Wayne, Ind., to director global executive compensation and benefits to group director human resources for the GM Vehicle Manufacturing organization in Warren, Mich.
