All six Tennessee Trucking Foundation Scholarships for the 2010-2011 school year were awarded to the Averitt Express associates or family members, the company announced.

Each year, the foundation – the charitable arm of the Tennessee Trucking Association – awards six scholarships to children, spouses or employees of TTA member organizations. This is the first time in the program’s seven-year history that all six scholarships have been awarded to Averitt associates or members of their families.

“This is a testament to the high caliber of associates that make up our team,” says Gary Sasser, Averitt’s president and chief executive officer. “Education is crucial in today’s global economy, and paying for it, whether you’re a young student or a nontraditional student working a full-time job, is often a challenge. We’re proud to have associates on our team who value education and are dedicated to furthering their personal and professional goals.”

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be entering their junior or senior years at accredited colleges or universities located in Tennessee.
