TransCore announced Monday, Dec. 13, that freight brokers, third-party logistics companies and shippers can get a carrier audit courtesy of TransCore CarrierWatch, incorporating the new Comprehensive Safety Analysis 2010 BASIC scores, many of which were made public Sunday, Dec. 12, by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

“Brokers, 3PLs or shippers who want to see how their preferred carriers have fared under the new CSA scoring system can obtain a free carrier audit from TransCore CarrierWatch,” says David Schrader, TransCore Freight Solutions senior vice president. “We also intend to publish a monthly benchmark of CSA scores as part of TransCore Trendlines for interstate, for-hire carriers so that brokers, 3PLs and shippers can see the distribution of CSA scores across the industry. This can help determine relative risk as brokers, 3PLs and shippers develop carrier qualification and hiring criteria.”

TransCore says CarrierWatch provides information on insurance, U.S. Department of Transportation authority and CSA safety scores in an at-a-glance format that enables transportation companies to hire and qualify carriers quickly and thoroughly. CarrierWatch subscribers can monitor any of the 500,000 carriers in TransCore’s DAT Directory and receive automated alerts of any changes in a carrier’s DOT authority, CSA 2010 scores and insurance certificates. TransCore says CarrierWatch has enhanced fraud protection, notifying shippers and freight brokers when a transportation company has operated under multiple names in an attempt to shield its identity.
