Con-way Multimodal, a division of Con-way Inc., announced it has implemented McLeod Software’s PowerBroker Trucking Software platform as its new brokerage system.

With a network of more than 15,000 carriers, Con-way Multimodal arranges over-the-road, intermodal, flatbed, heavy haul and specialized transportation for freight shipments. The company says its new platform automates critical business functions and strengthens its Web presence for integration and automation of its interactions with carriers, shippers, agents and public load boards.

Through PowerBroker’s secure Web portal, Con-way Multimodal’s customers and carrier network gain visibility into the entire transit process. Customers can access accurate, timely status information about loads as well as relevant and important documents. Customers also benefit from quicker quote times and improved invoice processing, the company says. Carriers gain improved visibility to available loads, load history and payments, as well as performance reports from Con-way Multimodal.

“Adopting PowerBroker is a critical step toward providing better, faster and more efficient service for our customers, carriers and brokers,” says Tommy Barnes, president of Con-way Multimodal. “This platform enables Con-way Multimodal to get the right information to our customers and carriers when they need it. Plus, our brokers can leverage the system to make more informed decisions about the best business opportunities to pursue.”

Specifically, PowerBroker enables increased load board functionality with major load posting providers, integrating with TransCore Connexion for efficient data searching and posting to the DAT Network. The software includes imaging workflow and built-in business intelligence with Microsoft SQL Server reporting services.
