SkyBitz, a provider of remote asset tracking and management, announced that Tankstar USA Inc. has chosen SkyBitz as its tracking solution for company fleets.

Tankstar USA is a liquid and dry bulk transportation provider with long-haul, short haul and just-in-time operations. The Tankstar USA companies selected the SkyBitz Falcon Series GXT1000 to track its fleet of tanks that service the cement industry in order to gain better visibility, said Jack Schwerman, President of Tankstar USA.

The result is improved asset allocation, logistics and security for customers, he said. Tankstar USA company operators can view near-real time location information and run customizable management and operational reports for each tank in the fleet through the SkyBitz InSight Web service.

SkyBitz Insight allows for automated alerts through the use of SkyBitz Sky Fences, which outline customized geo-perimeters around customer landmarks. Tankstar USA can now see its company fleet’s daily entire chain of events – from the arrival and departure from customer sites to all events occurring in between.

“Previously, we’d tried several other products for tracking but they just didn’t have the total solution we needed. SkyBitz answered that need,” Schwerman said. “In the ready-mix concrete industry, the loads are time-sensitive and need to be moved quickly. After testing an initial set of mobile terminals with our tank equipment, we plan to expand this to our other equipment.”

“By deploying SkyBitz solutions, Tankstar USA companies can be more effective with their dispatch operations and thus be a better partner to their customers through the sharing of critical information that plays a key role in load planning,” said Henry Popplewell, senior vice president of sales for SkyBitz.

The SkyBitz Falcon Series GXT1000 operates on a terrestrial GSM network. The durable and multifunctional device is ideal for security and management of high value assets in rugged high integrity applications, the company says. The device captures data needed for customers to monitor stop and idle time, mileage driven, arrival/departure timing and sky-fence adherence.
