Decisiv Inc., a provider of technology that connects fleet managers with internal and external service locations, announced it has enabled the application of the Decisiv Service Management Platform (DSMP) on email-capable handheld devices. The company says the application of the fully integrated platform in the field means fleets and service locations can share in-context information about a service event and move forward more effectively with timely repairs.

“Participants in the service management process are mobile, even within their own facilities in yards and service bays,” says Dick Hyatt, president of Decisiv. “Unthethering platform users during a service event can save both time and money for fleets and service providers. Enabling the use of the cloud computing-based Decisiv Service Management Platform anywhere, any time and on any device is one of a growing list of ways we are supporting more effective unified communication.”

Available using 3G and Wi-Fi networks on any handheld that is capable of sending and receiving email – including Android, Blackberry, iPhone, Palm and Windows Mobile devices, and tablet PCs – the DSMP can be used in remote locations to communicate and access details about vehicle service events.

The mobile application of the Decisiv Service Management Platform is designed to address the disjointed nature of email-based communication. The shared information and communication can include receiving alerts and sending responses, attaching photos and documents, and providing results of inspections. All of the in-context information is captured in a threaded date/time-stamped electronic folder.

By extending the full capability of the DSMP to handheld devices, Decisiv says it is enabling fleets and service locations to communicate more effectively and take full advantage of all the capabilities of the platform to get trucks back on the road.
