Accellos, a provider of supply chain execution software solutions, has named Bill Ashburn general manager of its line of transportation software solutions. Accellos says it recently has restructured into business units focused on transportation, WMS, third-party logistics and supply chain execution, a crucial step in its long-term strategy of building a unified suite of supply chain software through acquisition and organic development.

Accellos says the formation of its transportation business unit extends the company’s reach in the transportation industry, allowing customers to leverage its full breadth of product offerings and experience. Business units also allow the company to cater more directly to the needs of Accellos’ customer base.

“We are witnessing the culmination of the vision and strategy we put in place four years ago,” says Michael Cornell, Accellos founder and chief executive officer. “Bringing people, processes and technology together into a single transportation business unit under veteran leadership has allowed us to continue building on the foundation we’ve laid and gives us the means to become the leader in our chosen market.”

Since its founding in 2006, Accellos has completed six acquisitions, enabling an end-to-end supply-chain product offering. In addition, the Accellos research and development team has introduced a series of products under its Essentials brand that expands its product portfolio for all of its customers. “All of this was done as part of our strategic vision to provide our customers and the market with a one-stop shop for supply chain execution solutions,” Cornell says. “I am proud of what we have accomplished in such a short time and in such a challenging economic climate.”

Ashburn joined Accellos in autumn 2008 with the acquisition of Prophesy Transportation Solutions Inc., which he co-founded in 1986. Prophesy was the developer of a PC-based commercial mileage and routing software. During Ashburn’s tenure as vice president of Prophesy throughout the following 22 years, the company became a provider of software to the transportation industry, offering an integrated suite of solutions for carriers and brokers, including dispatch and accounting, mobile communications, planning and compliance, and logistics.

After becoming a division of Accellos, Ashburn and his team continued to develop and maintain their existing solutions and have contributed new solutions to Accellos’ product lineup, such as its load building and route optimization software, now known as Accellos One Optimize. In late 2010, Ashburn received the title of vice president and general manager of ProphesySeries, Accellos’ line of transportation software solutions.

“We are proud to name Bill Ashburn GM of our new transportation business unit,” Cornell says. “Our existing customers and some 400 new customers joining us each year expect consistently valuable and innovative solutions, and Bill Ashburn’s extensive experience in developing software for every aspect of transportation gives him the insight that makes this possible.”
