Feed The Children announced that its core carrier FTC Transportation Inc. was awarded Great West Casualty Co.’s 2010 Platinum Workplace and National Safety awards for excellence in maintaining a safe employee work environment and traffic safety. FTC Transportation’s 2010 safety record helped to earn the awards for the second year.

FTC Transportation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oklahoma City-based international relief organization Feed The Children, assists in the pickup and delivery of hunger relief items and disaster essentials throughout the United States as well as competitive truckload hauling throughout the country as a full-contract carrier.

“We are proud to once again receive this award for safety from Great West Casualty Company,” says Greg Garen, vice president of FTC Transportation. “FTC Transportation is dedicated to maintaining a safe track record on the roads and to helping children and families in need in the United States.”

In addition to the awards, FTC Transportation and its drivers also have been recognized locally for excellence in safety. In 2011, the Oklahoma Trucking Association recognized Jon Atzenhofer with an award for 2010 Professional Driver, and in the past year, two drivers were recognized for one million miles driven safely. In addition, 30 of FTC Transportation’s over-the-road drivers were recognized for completing the calendar year with no preventable accidents or incidents.
