Meritor Inc. has appointed Krista Sohm to the position of vice president of communications, effective immediately. Lin Cummins, formerly senior vice president of communications at Meritor for nearly 13 years, has elected to retire from Meritor at the end of the year, at which time she will explore other endeavors in the field of communications. Sohm will report directly to Mary Lehmann, senior vice president of treasury, corporate development, communications and investor relations for Meritor.

“Lin has been a valued strategic partner within the company and a well-respected professional in the industry for many years,” says Chip McClure, chairman, chief executive officer and president for Meritor. “We view communications as a business imperative whose function is to build and protect the company’s brand in every region of the world. Krista has made significant contributions to the company over the last 11 years and is well-prepared to lead our global communication team following Lin’s retirement.”

In her new role, Sohm will be responsible globally for brand management, corporate communications, executive communications, employee communications, marketing communications, media relations, governmental affairs and community relations. Sohm has been with Meritor since 2000 when she joined the company as manager of internal communications.

Since that time, she has held positions of increasing responsibility, most recently serving as senior director of corporate communications. Prior to joining the company, Sohm spent more than nine years in strategic communication and marketing roles at EDS GM Global Communications, EDS Corporate Marketing for the Detroit Region and EDS Human Performance Services.
