Ryder System Inc. announced it has received the 2010 Carrier of the Year award from Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. in the category of Truck Intermodal Logistics Partner of the Year. Toyota annually selects four winners for its Carrier of the Year Awards to recognize outstanding transportation service providers who support Toyota’s North American parts operations.

Selection of the winners is based on each carrier’s performance in areas such as on-time delivery and pickup, safety, problem-solving capabilities, damage prevention and equipment availability, among others. Toyota also evaluates carriers on their ability to embrace kaizen, or a focus on continuous improvement in their service.

Ryder provides Toyota with logistics support that includes pickup and delivery of service parts to Toyota’s service parts logistics network throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.

“We pride ourselves on our high level of operational execution and expertise in the automotive sector and other key industries,” says Dick Jennings, vice president and general manager of automotive, aerospace and industrials for Ryder Supply Chain Solutions. “We are grateful to Toyota for this recognition of our efforts and for a relationship that continues to flourish after many years.”
