NationaLease inaugurated its first “Top Tech Challenge,” a national competition of technicians representing more than 100 full-service truck leasing companies from across the country in a test of truck maintenance proficiency. The top three winning technicians will compete in the TMC SuperTech Competition this September and will represent NationaLease, a full-service truck leasing organization.
Taking the top honor was Bill Rundell of Florida Truck Leasing, a NationaLease Developing Member, based in Apopka, Fla. Coming in as first runner up is Eric Tucker of Kris-Way Truck Leasing Inc., a NationaLease Member, in South Portland, Maine, while Aaron Tucker (no relation to Eric) from Hogan Truck Leasing Inc., a NationaLease member in St. Louis, came in as second runner up.
NationaLease first tested technicians from the across the country in an earlier written knowledge exam. From there, the organization brought in the top nine regional winners to Hogan Truck Leasing’s facility in Kansas City, Mo., to compete in the hands-on portion of the competition. There, they competed in eight stations: starting and charging, electrical, brakes, wheel ends, HVAC, engine diagnostics, electronic information and PMI.
The top three winners of the competition were saluted at the NationaLease Spring Maintenance Managers Meeting at the Westin Crown Center in Kansas City. All three were presented with awards and prizes provided by NationaLease and several of its suppliers, including Shell Oil Products U.S., Allison Transmission, Kidron and Michelin North America.
