FleetNet America appoints Cummings president, CEO

Gary W. Cummings has been appointed as president and chief executive officer of FleetNet America Inc., a third-party vendor management company that coordinates maintenance management services comprising emergency roadside events and all other scheduled/unscheduled services for commercial and material handling equipment.

Cummings replaces C. Oren Summer, whose retirement from the company, effective June 30, was announced previously. Summer will continue with FleetNet as a consultant to the Cherryville, N.C.-based company, which is a subsidiary of Arkansas Best Corp.

Since February, Cummings has served as FleetNet’s president and chief operating officer. He began at FleetNet inJanuary 2005 as vice president of corporate services. Cummings, 45, has spent his entire career in the transportation industry beginning at an early age working in a trucking company that was owned and managed by his parents.
