Newly appointed Port of Long Beach Harbor Commissioners Rich Dines and Doug Drummond were sworn in and seated at the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners meeting on Monday, Aug. 8. Dines and Drummond succeeded former Commissioners Mario Cordero and Dr. Mike Walter. They were appointed by Mayor Bob Foster in July and confirmed by the Long Beach City Council Aug. 2.

Dines, a longshoreman at the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles and former labor leader, brings 15 years of experience on the waterfront to his new position as commissioner. Drummond – a former Long Beach City councilman, vice mayor and Police Department commander – represented the city’s 3rd District from 1990 to 1998 and was with the Long Beach Police Department for more than 29 years.
