Kerry Logistics has opened a 215,000-square-foot logistics center in Hefei, China, for the growing automotive industry sector in Anhui Province, directly west of Shanghai in central China. The logistics center has been customized to serve a rapidly increasing number of automobile manufacturers in the Hefei region.

Kerry will deliver a range of tailored automotive logistics solutions at the facility. Services include vendor managed inventory, subassembly and kitting, just-in-time delivery, milk run transportation programs and a wide range of value-added services, such as functional testing, CKD or SKD operations.

“Demand has been growing from our automotive customers in Hefei for us to deliver specialist automotive logistics services, and we have now opened the Kerry Hefei Logistics Center to enhance our offering to the car manufacturing community in Anhui,” says Edwardo Erni, managing director, Mainland China.

Kerry Hefei Logistics Center is less than 2.5 miles from Hefei Luogang International Airport and adjacent to express highways linking to Hening, Hewu, Hehuang and Hexu. There is also a railway connection linking to Hejiu, Heband, Ningxi, Huhanrong and Jingfu.

Situated in the Economic and Technological Development Zone, the new logistics center comprises five warehouses. Four of the warehouses are already in use, and the fifth, a 54,000-square-foot warehouse, will be operational by the end of 2011.
