The U.S. average price of a gallon of diesel fuel declined for the fourth consecutive week, declining 2.5 cents to $3.81 for the week ending Monday, Aug. 22, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. The price, which has fallen 13.9 cents since July 25, is the lowest since Feb. 28 when it was $3.716. However, the price is still 85.3 cents higher than the same week last year.
Prices in all regions tracked by DOE saw declines. The biggest decline, 3.9 cents, was found in the Central Atlantic, where prices fell to $3.944. The smallest decline, 0.7 cent, was found in New England, where prices declined to $3.994, the nation’s highest price. The nation’s lowest price, $3.772, was found on the Gulf Coast, where prices fell 3.4 cents.
