Jacobs Vehicle Systems, a manufacturer of heavy-duty diesel engine retarding systems and valve actuation mechanisms, announced that it will be the engine brake supplier for the Mercedes-Benz 13-liter OM471 diesel engine, which has been released on the new Actros.
Jacobs says its Model OM471 engine brake will be standard equipment and works on the compression release principle, acting on a single exhaust valve using Jacobs’ dedicated cam-operated integrated dual rocker arm system. The Actros is the first Mercedes-Benz branded truck to come standard with a Jacobs engine brake.
