TMW Systems Inc., a provider of software for the transportation services industry, announced that its mobile communications software for smartphones D2Link now is available for the Android platform on a group of certified devices. TMW says the move expands the range of smartphone devices that can be used by carriers to communicate digitally with their drivers for trip status and load instructions as well as to support shipment track and trace capabilities.

TMW says D2Link is a cost-effective mobile data solution offered for use with a wide range of consumer smartphones and handsets available from major cellular carriers and offers a flexible alternative to traditional fixed in-cab communications platforms. TMW says the application makes full use of the Android operating system to present a sleek user interface and state-of-the-art features in the high resolution screens now found on many phones; new features in D2Link include mapping for both current vehicle locations and trip destinations.

The D2Link-Android menu is set up to allow users to select:
• Inbox for trip, load or driver-specific company communications;
• Schedules for detailed pickup, stop, arrival and departure workflows;
• Forms for specific communications and information templates; and
• Admin for advanced system setup, personalization and application management.

D2Link for Android is in general availability for both new and existing customers who wish to move to devices running on the Android platform. Android versions 2.1 and higher are supported with the current release. For more information, go to www.tmwsytems.com/d2link.
